Our history

It all started with Silje's frustrations around knitting. Where did she leave off last? How many stitches had been decreased? Did she have the right needles at home? And how much had she really knitted throughout the year? We realized these challenges were probably something many knitters could relate to, and in 2021, we launched KNIT – an app for all your knitting needs.

Today, we are more than just an app. We host the KNIT Awards, run the Strikkernes Marked, and have now also launched an online store. We believe designers deserve a share of the yarn sales generated through their pattern recommendations, and with us, we make sure they get it. We are passionate about creating time for what really matters – creating!

KNIT

With KNIT, you have an overview of all your projects in one place. Sort by active, planned, and finished, and always start where you left off last. We take care of all your notes, counters, and markers, so you can focus on actually knitting.

You can also save all your PDFs with us or purchase mobile-friendly patterns in our store. There, you can choose the size you're knitting and only see the numbers that correspond to that size. You’ll get tutorial videos directly in the pattern and can check off what you’ve completed.

The yarn and needle storage is super useful if you’ve built up a little (or large) stash. That way, you’ll know what you have at home when you’re in the yarn store wondering if you really need another set of needles.
